Following a meeting held on Thursday by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Kaduna State University (ASUU-KASU) chapter, the union has decided to embark on a two-week warning strike.
This was the resolution reached after hours of extensive deliberations on Thursday.
Hundreds of lecturers who attended the meeting maintained that they are not going to be cowed into receiving the N300m earned allowances approved for them by the state government, while there are many contending issues like the 25-35 per cent agreement, autonomy, promotion arrears, etc.

In a statement issued by the union on its official Facebook handle, it maintained that “owing to the expiration of the warning which elapsed today (Thursday), we have to come back to tell members what has so far transpired when we issued the two weeks warning since 12th August, 2026.
“And after serious deliberations, it was agreed we embark on two weeks warning strike, after which we will come back to take a definite stand. And this is if, at the end of the two weeks, nothing was forthcoming, we have to close the university.”
As at the time of filing the report, it was reported that the union leaders are meeting with the negotiation committee set up by the state government.
