THE Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has defied the expulsion order placed on him by the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he organised a mega rally in Abeokuta, on Thursday.
Kashamu was expelled from the party alongside the factional state chairman and a chieftain of the party, Chief Bayo Dayo and Prince Segun Seriki respectively while addressing the mammoth crowd that attended the rally, held at the party’s state headquarter, insisted that he remains a bonafide card-carrying member of PDP.
The lawmaker who is the major financier of the party was expelled by PDP NEC last July, over an allegation that he worked against the interest of the party, by supporting the opposition in the Ekiti governorship election.
He described the action of the NEC as “sheer waste of time.”

“I, Buruji Kashamu remains in PDP. I wish to state here that any illegal announcement about my purported expulsion from the party is a sheer waste of time,” he said.
He urged those in attendance at the rally to ignore the expulsion news, asking them to go all out and mobilise for the party ahead of the 2019 elections.
Kashamu submitted that the party needs a credible candidate that would lead it to victory.
He added, “The primaries and general elections are almost here. We must all go out to mobilise, so we all go out to mobilise and come out victorious in the 2019 elections.
“The party needs someone with the wherewithal and structure to deliver for the party, very soon there will be an official declaration.”
While speaking, Dayo, reiterated that their suspension is illegal and one that could not stand the test of time.
The embattled chairman maintained that he remained the state party chairman till the year 2020, submitting that a court judgement to that effect had not been appealed against in the court of law.
