A frontline Kano politician and Managing Director of the Kano Refuse Management and Sanitation Board, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, passed away on Thursday at the age of 74.
Reports say that the politician died after a prolonged illness.
Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago participated fully in the politics of the Second Republic as a member of the National Party of Nigeria and the National Republican Convention in the aborted Third Republic.
When Nigeria returned to civil rule in 1999, Danzago was a member of the defunct All Peoples Party and later served as its Kano State acting chairman.
He oversaw the victory of the party during the 2003 general elections, where Malam Ibrahim Shekarau emerged as the Executive Governor of Kano State. Zago was later appointed as Political Adviser to Malam Shekarau’s government.
Alhaji Zago was a fearless politician who entered into any political conflict without fear or favour.
