The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 15-year-old boy, Yusuf Danliti, who fell into open water at Gari Dam in Gari Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, a copy made available on Monday to newsmen in Kano.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Saturday, after the Fire Service received a distress call at about noon from one Usman Garba, reporting the emergency at the dam.

“Men of the Kano State Fire Service from the Gari Fire Station were immediately deployed to the scene under the leadership of the Director of the Service, Alhaji Sani Anas.

“On arrival, the firefighters discovered the teenage boy in the water and swiftly carried out a rescue operation.

“The victim was rescued unconscious and was subsequently handed over to the Village Head of the area, Lawan Zangina, for further necessary action,” the statement read.

The Director of the Kano State Fire Service advised parents and guardians to be more vigilant and ensure close monitoring of their children, particularly to discourage swimming in open water bodies, which has continued to result in loss of lives.

The Kano State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
