Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile (Rtd) as new chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), with five others to serve as members.
This step is coming ahead of the next elections scheduled to hold next year in all the 20 Local Government Areas (20) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, when the tenure of the current office holders, including chairmen and councilors would have expired.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made this known in a statement issued by the state Ministry of Information and Strategy, hinting that Justice Ighile (Rtd) would now take over from Justice Ayotunde Adeyoola Phillips (Rtd), the incumbent chairman.
