A member of the House of Representatives representing the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in Plateau State, Mr. Ajang Iliya, has defected from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This announcement was made on Thursday, shortly after the Labour Party lost five of its members in the House to the APC.

During the plenary session, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas formally announced Iliya’s defection.

In reading the letter stating his change of party affiliation, Abbas cited “the crisis in the leadership of the Labour Party” and other related issues addig that he “finds it difficult to align with LP’s position on current issues.”

Last Thursday, five lawmakers from the Labour Party announced their defection to the APC.
