The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Kaduna State University (KASU) has commenced a total and comprehensive indefinite strike effective Thursday, April 24, 2025.
This was contained in a memo obtained by our reporter on Thursday.
The union’s members are fully mobilised to comply 100% with the strike.
According to the union’s publicity committee, the strike will affect all academic activities, including lectures, meetings, project supervision, and result processing. Specifically, the strike entails:
- No lectures, physical or online
- No meetings, including senate, faculty, and department meetings
- No project supervision or defense
- No field studies or SIWES supervision
- No marking of examination scripts or processing of results
The union has set up a Strike Monitoring Committee (SMC) to oversee the strike and report any non-compliance. ASUU-KASU is determined to see the strike-through to its logical conclusion, emphasizing the importance of unity in bargaining.
The strike’s impact on the university’s academic calendar and students’ activities remains to be seen.
ASUU-KASU’s resolve to push for their demands is clear, and the situation will likely continue to unfold in the coming days.
