The publisher of Cross River watch, Agba Jalingo, has been released from prison custody.
Recall that on Thursday, a Federal High Court sitting in Calabar granted a bail of N10 million to the detained journalist, Jalingo.
Jalingo, who was released on Monday, has been detained for six months, having been arrested on August 22, 2019, for allegedly writing articles criticising Cross Rivers Governor, Ben Ayade.
He was released after meeting his bail condition.
Jalingo was arrested by the police in August 2019 after he published a story on how Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River, allegedly approved and diverted N500 million meant for the state’s microfinance bank.
He was subsequently arraigned for treason and attempting to overthrow the state government due to ‘the highly critical articles’ he published.
