The ancient town of Ugbo in Ondo State erupted in celebrations as the Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, made a grand return, dispelling widespread rumours of his demise.
The monarch, who had been away on what he termed a vacation in the United Kingdom, was greeted by an ecstatic crowd of subjects, traditional chiefs, and well-wishers, all eager to see him alive and well.
For weeks, speculations about his health had circulated, sparking concerns among his people. However, the majestic return of the monarch dubbed Africa’s richest king not only put an end to the rumours but also reaffirmed his strength and leadership.
Dressed in his usual regal attire, Oba Akinruntan addressed his subjects, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and prayers.
The atmosphere was filled with drumming, singing, and dancing as residents rejoiced, seeing their revered king in high spirits. His return signifies continuity and stability in the kingdom, with many believing it marks the beginning of renewed progress and unity for the Ugbo people.
The king, a powerful oil magnate and Chairman of Obat Petroleum, gave a mocking toast in the Ilaje dialect signifying his strength and his pact with his people.
