THE Joint Committee (JNC) in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has tasked the minister on the need to ensure that staff of the ministry who were excluded in the on going comprehensive staff housing scheme, being implemented by the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, were integrated.
Speaking on behalf of the members, the Chairman of JNC in the Ministry, Leo Osebeme, used the occasion of the median edition of “Best Staff Award Ceremony” reorganised by management to appreciate deserving personnels, to urge the minister to as a matter of urgency liaise with the Head of Service of the Federation, to ensure that members of the union were included in the housing scheme.
Osebeme, while acknowledging the ministry’s efforts in rewarding about 30 deserving staff of the ministry for their commitments and hardwork, also reminded management that staff welfare package without a good shelter, may amount to nothing for the workers.
Responding to the demand of the union, the minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who expressed delights over the cooperation he had enjoyed from the ministry staff, also vowed to take up the issue of staff Housing with the Head of Civil Service of Federation, Winfred Oyo-Ita.

Ogbeh, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr.Bukar Hassan, noted that the welfare of the workers cannot be neglected, as they are the critical “machinery through which Government articulates and implements its policies and programmes.“
The Minister who further disclosed that the award was a demonstration of the present administration’s commitments to rewarding hardworking staff and discouraging corruption in the system, also assured that more incentives were underway to spur productivity and excellent service delivery.
