The Buji local government council chairman, Arch. Najibullah Falalu Tukur has reconnected 10 towns and villages in the area to the national grid after over 15 years of blackout and connected eight others.
The Jigawa LG boss disclosed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent, stating, “In fulfillment of our earlier promise, work has commenced on the re-electrification of the Yayarin Tukur–Kafin Madaki Power-Line to restore an energy line that has been vandalized and left unused for over 15 years.”
The Jigawa LG boss said the project is one among other ongoing interventions by his administration aimed at rehabilitating critical infrastructure, improving access to electricity, and stimulating socio-economic development across Buji Local Government Area.
According to him, the council earlier approved the immediate reconnection of the vandalised power line from Kwari–Nafara to Gantsa, which supplies electricity to 10 towns across the Local Government Area.
“This decision reflects our administration’s unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure, rural electrification, and quality of life for our people,” he added.
He also said, “Similarly, our local council awarded the contract of connecting more towns and villages with the national grid in continuation of our effort of providing infrastructure that would improve our people’s economy. Electricity is very vital in that regard.”
The beneficiary towns and villages are Gantsa to Jibari, to Tijiyo to Ahoto to Yayarin Tukur to Kafin Madaki, and Yayarin Tukur to Abore.
Arch. Falalu emphasised his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises through the All Progressive Congress (APC) manifestos in accordance with Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda.
