The Jigawa state government flagged all support and cooperation to all development partners working to promote and champion positive health outcomes and youth developments in the state.
The state commissioner of Information, Youth, Spot and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa made the disclosure while presenting his address at a day Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement Summit (MAYE) and inaugural of the youth champions and advisory committee of the state.
Musa explained that the present administration under Governor Umar Namadi is ever ready to give all support to any national and international organizations to work on the social and economic development of the people and the Jigawa state.
According to him “I urge you to dedicate yourselves to championing positive health outcomes and developmental progress for youths and adolescents, working tirelessly to promote well-being and support growth. Use your voice to uplift others, your hands to build bridges, and your heart to inspire hope.”
Speaking at the summit, Miss Stacy Louis, Youth Innovation Champion A360 in Jigawa stated the Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement Summit (MAYE) Summit is a key initiative aimed at fostering meaningful engagement between adolescents, youth, and adults.
Miss Stacy Louis explained that “The 1-day Summit brought together youth-led organizations, networks, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to establish a strong youth network, inaugurate youth champions, formulate a state-based youth advisory committee and disseminate the A360s MAYE strategy and develop a MAYE alignment charter.
“The inaugurated Youth Champions, who were representatives from Start-up Jigawa, Turn-up Jigawa, National Association of Jigawa State Students (NAJISS), Association of Women and Youth Health Social Awareness, National Youth Council, A360 project beneficiaries, A360 young service providers.”
She noted that the committee is set up to champion MAYE activities in their respective community, advocating for youth involvement in decision-making processes and promoting initiatives that benefit the health and development of all young people.
“The champions in one voice agreed will strive to create a legacy of positive impact and lasting change of A360, MAYE and MMA aims and objectives through the Society for Family Health (SFH) strategies and guidelines for adolescent and youth development.”
in her parts Ramatu Abdulkarim Iyimoga, SFH- A380 Nigeria Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement, Lead said “A Youth Advisory committee was formed, having representatives from the A360 Amplify project, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ministry of Information, Youth Sports and Culture, and the Special Advisor to the Jigawa State Governor on Innovation and Technology.
“Participants signed the MAYE integration charter, committing to the adoption and implementation of the MAYE strategy within their respective mandates, ensuring that young people’s ideas, perspectives, and contributions are integral to programs and policies that impact their lives and communities.”
Hajia Maimuna Suleiman, the Adolescent Health Desk Officer (SPHCDA) added that this process will enhance youth inclusion in decision-making processes, policy alignments, programme and project implementation, ensuring that their ideas, perspectives and insights are inculcated aiming towards improved health and developmental outcomes for young people.
