Jigawa govt moves to curb menace of unqualified teachers

Jigawa State government would establish a teachers’ resource centre in its college of education Gumel to curb the menace of unqualified teachers in the state.

This was disclosed by the Technical Adviser to the governor on Basic Education, Dr Hauwa Mustapha during her visit to the college to inspect the site of the centre, who said the aim is to promote teaching career as a profession through intensive training skills to both learners and the teachers.

The Technical Adviser explained that she was in the college to see the site and level of work for the immediate takes of the centre, “I came to inspect the site. Already the books and other instructional material were brought from the United States of America (USA) arrived.”

Hauwa also described the program as part of Governor Umar Namadi’s agenda of transforming the education system in the state.

She therefore stressed the need for people in the state to give their maximum cooperation to achieve the desired objective.

While speaking during the visit, the provost of the college, Dr Nura Muhammad Ringim expressed delight and described the program as a welcome development that will improve working capacity in the teaching profession.

Also the college registrar, Malam Bala Isyaku thanks the technical adviser for the initiatives and commitment to share her vast experience in willingness to move education to a higher standard.
