Jigawa college of Nursing and Midwifery provost, director engage in physical combat

THE Provost of the Jigawa college of Nursing and Midwifery, Birninkudu Hahiya Aisha Muhammed, and the acting Director of School of Midwifery, Hajiya Halima Muhammad, appeared semi naked at college compound in a physical combat.

Reports from the state indicated that the two female managerial staffs engaged themselves in a physical combat in the office of the acting director, Hajiya Halima Muhammad Yunusa a situation which threw the institution into commotion.

Tribune Online in the state gathered that it was the Provost, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Kazaure who allegedly walked into the office of the acting Director of midwifery, Hajiya Halima Muhammad Yunusa and assaulted her.

An eye witness who prepared anonymity told Tribune Online that the tension had for long been brewing, as there was no love lost between the duo since the director was asked to head the school of midwifery. A situation that never went well with the provost of the school.

An eye witness account further revealed that the trouble started when the Provost demanded for a refund of expenses she ‎incurred while attending to her guests, a situation that led to the argument between them.

Also gathered by Tribune Online in the state that the provost followed the director to her office and allegedly slapped her on the face, a situation that led to an immediate brawl by the duo, which led to other lecturers and some students around the building running to the scene.

The academic staffs union of the college had summoned an emergency congress meeting, and to that effect have out rightly condemned the incidence and declared it unacceptable to the entire members.

In a communique issued at the end of their meeting, signed by the chairman and Secretary Ibrahim Aji and Ahmad Alhaji, made it available to the news men called by the state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar for an immediate action.

The academic staffs union called for the suspension of both parties while an investigative panel should be set-up ‎by the state Ministry of health with a view to finding and punishing the trouble maker.

The academic union in the college have threatened to down tools, if necessary action is not taken by the authorities to prevent the continued embarrassment, that they said have been going on for a long time since the provost have assumed duty in the school.

When contacted in her office, the Provost Hajiya Aisha Muhammed Kazaure declined to comment, she said “I’m a civil servant not in the position to speak with journalist without the clearance of the ministry (Min of Health).

Also contacted in her resident the director school midwifery Hajiya Halima Muhammed Yunusa kept mute, she said “some many people intervening and a committee had been set up to investigates the matter and the true will reveal.

When contacted, the state commissioner of health Dr Abba Zakari said, “the ministry have already instituted an investigative committee that will furnish us with its findings and recommendations before we could take any action on the matter”, he said.
