Jerry Gana heads committee on Obadiah Mailafia burial

Former Minister of information, Professor Jerry Gana, has been appointed head of the burial committee of late Dr Obadiah Mailafia.

This was made known in a statement signed by Rev Dr Gideon Para-Mallam on behalf of the burial committee and made available to pressmen on Thursday, after a meeting of the Committee held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in Abuja.

According to the statement, a funeral program has been approved for Thursday, November 4, 2021, for the service of songs/tributes at 5 pm, while the funeral service shall take place the following day Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11 am. Both events shall take place at the Nigerian Christian Centre, Abuja.

The Burial Steering Committee appreciated religious, political and community leaders, among others that have paid personal visits to the Abuja home of the Mailafias, as well as those who have sent condolence messages to the family, while looking forward to the scheduled funeral activities in bidding farewell cum paying last respects to Dr. Obadiah Mailafia.

Dr Obadiah Mailafia, answered the call of nature on September 19, 2021, at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, aged 64.

He was a trained Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Oxford University economist, a former official with African Development Bank, former Presidential adviser, former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) former Presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) as well as a vibrant columnist with Nigerian Tribune newspaper.
