Jafad College of Health Technology berths in Oru-Ijebu

In order to ensure academic excellence in Health Technology and raise it to an international standard in Nigeria, a privately owned college named Jafad College of Health Technology has been established in Oru-ijebu, Ogun State.

Speaking with journalists at a press cconference last weekend, Mr Gbenga Awolowo the coordinator of the institution, disclosed that the goal of the management of the college owned by US-based Nigerian couple, Mr and Mrs Durojaiye, is “to blend the strong academic innovations obtainable overseas with the rich Nigerian academic culture to produce the best set of scientists with good morals.”

He said it was the decision of the management to start with the College of Health Technology and later introduce the School of Nursing, adding that the institution which is located at the former Refugee Camp, Oru-Ijebu has facilities to cater for the needs of students, including well-equiped laboratory and imported equipment that would make the college ready to compete with other institutions.

He said other facilities that are obtainable inlude, administrative block, with house the Provost office Reception, Registrar office, functioning School Clinic, Laboratory buldings Lecture theatres Mosque, female and male hostels, Lecturer’s residence, Library, ICT Centre, Toilet facilities and dinning hall to mentions of few..

Mr Awolowo explained that the institution is starting off with about 2,000 students and that all academic staff, numbering about 40 have been employed. He disclosed that the school would also arrange trainning programme on modern method of teaching and provision of science teaching aids in order for them to practise what hass been taught.

The institution, he said, would take off next month.
