It’s time to abolish bi-camera legislative system — Sowore

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore has put his weight behind the call to abolish the bi-camera legislative system in Nigeria.

Sowore while reacting to a video of a People’s Democratic Party, PDP lawmaker, representing Cross River North, Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe revealed that some ranking senators received N500 million each for projects.

The Senator revealed this while speaking during Tuesday’s plenary while discussing Senator Olamilekan Adeola’s motion on breach of privilege by Senator Abdul Ningi.

Meanwhile, Sowore in a post on his official X handle said the Senate is a coven of thieves, a retirement home of chronic liars, never-do-wells, and corrupt former governors.

He posted, “It’s time we seriously move to abolish the bi-camera legislative system, especially the @NGRSenate, which has always been a coven of thieves; it is the retirement home of chronic liars, never-do-wells, and corrupt former governors in Nigeria.

“We need a unicameral legislative arm with no more than 100 part-time lawmakers.”
