
A two-time governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State for the 2019 general elections, on Wednesday night.
Isiaka an unopposed aspirant scored a total number of 207,334 votes to emerged the party’s gubernatorial candidate.
The State Chairman of the party, Dr Gbolade Osinowo, declared the election process as a free, fair and credible exercise and appreciate members of the party for electing a worthy candidate in the person of GNI as fondly called in the political arena.
Osinowo said the party would carry the day at the polls in 2019, describing Isiaka, as an experienced and the very best candidate to administer the State at the expiration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s tenure in office.
The Chairman of the party’s National Electoral Committee for Ogun State, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, described the primary exercise as an impressive one and later presented the certificate of return to the governorship candidate.
He urged party members to work hard to ensure victory for the party at the 2019 polls.
In his acceptance speech, Isiaka said his choice as the party’s candidate was a clarion call to march forward with great determination in developing the State.

He said: “Today, you have made the right choice. We will start from where we stopped and ensure we win the election. I ask for your continued support to make this journey a smooth one.
“It is not going to be easy but from feelers around and the order in our great party, we know we will win. Let us stand firm together to fight this battle.
“This is a clarion call to march forward with more determination and energy. I will faithfully implement the manifesto of our party which has been strategically aligned with my blueprint for Ogun State called the Seven Steps to Greatness which shall be unveiled in a fortnight.”
Meanwhile, a chieftain of ADC in Ogun State, Dr Femi Majekodunmi, has resigned his membership of the party with immediate effect.
Majekodunmi in a release he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the State capital, said he is leaving ADC to return back to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said he has withdrawn from the Ogun Central senatorial race under the platform of the ADC and from any real or imagined membership of the party as a mark of respect to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, stating that he is fully back to the APC from his ward in Abeokuta South local government.
He said, “My loyalty is now fully with APC, I hereby confirm that there is no more divided loyalty and will henceforth fully resume my activities in APC starting from my Ward 1, Abeokuta South. ”
According to him, he took the decision to return back to the APC after due consultations with his family members, relations and political associates within Ogun State and all over the country, stating that he has no regret serving as a member of the ADC.
Majekodunmi who served as the Caretaker Chairman of ADC in Oyo State, maintained that his return back to the APC was the best decision he could take at the present time and not for selfish interest, noting that the party is more poised to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun State.
He said: “After due consultations with my immediate family, political leaders and teeming supporters across the length and breadth of Ogun State and all over the country, I have decided to resign my membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and return back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This decision is the best I could take at the moment given the political situation in our dear State, Ogun State. Indeed, it was in the best interest of the people in the state as I believe that for now, it is the APC that is in a better position to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
He, however, said he is leaving the ADC does not mean its members are his enemies, stating that as a politician that has served the State in different capacities, he will continue to make himself available to serve the people irrespective of his returning back to the APC.
