Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on behalf of the State government, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Mr Segun Ajiboye, hinted that since the invitation of the Nigeria’s domestic carrier to the Sunshine State, that many investors have agreed to partner the Governor to create jobs for the teeming youths of the state.
This is just as the state government is collaborating with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to construct arrival and departure terminals as well as other facilities that will make air travel more seamless for people around the state.
According to Ajiboye, the construction of the terminals will not be of benefits to only indigenes of the state, but also aid the movement of agricultural products from the state to other parts of the country.
Since the facilitation of Air Peace to the state by the Ondo state government, economic activities have been boosted with more people including businessmen and private investors indicating interests to do business in the state.
While describing the relationship existing between the state government and the aviation authorities as cordial, Ajiboye declared: “Air peace airline is brought to Ondo State by the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The operations of the airline have improved economic activities of the businessmen in the state. As a result of the presence of Air Peace in Ondo State, investors have agreed to partner Governor Akeredolu to create jobs for the teaming youths of the state.
Economic activities have been boosted. More people, especially, businessmen/investors are now showing interests to do business in the state.”
Speaking on whether the state government planned to extend air link between Akure and
Abuja, Ajiboye said the two cities have been linked before now with operation of flights between the duo by another Nigerian carrier, Overland Airways.
Presently, economic activities at the airport are increasing with businesses of various types springing up around the airport with calls from the government to the people and investors to take advantage of the opening of the Akure airport.
On the plans to to further enhance the opportunity inherent in the opening of the airport to more flight operations, Ajiboye said this will be made possible through the constant investment in the air transport sector and cooperation among all the stakeholders involved in the management and running of the airport.
