According to him, “The bravery, dedication, commitment and sacrifice of our armed forces over the years cannot be ignored because they fought a war to keep us alive.”

He noted that the fallen heroes put their lives on the line for us to stay alive, saying, “We will always remember them and those they left behind.”

He also said that the state government has privatised some social interventions programmes in order to reduce the rate of crimes and other related form of criminalities in our communities.

“We have forged a strong partnership with the federal security agencies to secure the state. We have allocated land to the Nigeria Air Force to establish their air wing in the state.

“I just had a meeting with the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA ) and they will soon set up their office in Kaduna. Their presence in the state will help us to tackle the insecurity challenges we are facing.”

The governor then donated the sum of N10m to the Nigerian Legion and solicited more donations from individuals and organizations.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the acting chairman, of Nigerian Legion, Kaduna-chapter, Major Danjuma Baren rtd said every year the occasion is being celebrated to remember the sacrifice made by our fallen heroes.

According to Baren, the gallant soldiers had left behind widows and orphans, saying, ” Thus, this unique occasion will always make us reflect on the times of our fallen heroes as well as to assist what they left behind.”

He appealed to the state governor to provide the state chapter with an official vehicle that would assist them in discharging their duties with ease.
