Insecurity: Ondo women hold special prayer for Nigeria, Tinubu

Concerned about the country’s escalating security challenges, the women’s wing of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) in Akoko South-East and Akoko South-West Local Government Areas of Ondo State, convened a special prayer session, calling on divine guidance for the nation and President Bola Tinubu.

The group, which also called for fervent prayers and divine intervention for Nigeria to overcome a myriad of challenges militating against the peace and unity of the country, reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s administration and its efforts to address national challenges.

The event, organised under the platform of the group’s regular women dialogue programme known as Ondo Women Meeting, took place at the Oka-Akoko Town Hall in Akoko South-West council area, drawing a large turnout of women from the two local government areas as well as GMT leaders and community stakeholders.

The Chief Imam of Oka-Akoko, Alhaji Mohammad Isa Abubakar, and Rev. Canon Daniel Opeyemi Aliu of St. James Anglican Church, Oka-Akoko, led separate prayer sessions calling for an end to insecurity.

Both clerics also commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his dedication to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the event, the State Director-General of GMT, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, explained that the prayer session was part of the group’s grassroots efforts to support the Federal Government’s initiatives to combat insecurity.

He said the special prayer was conducted to put an end to insecurity and economic challenges, causing severe hardship to Nigerians.

Ogunleye said, “We are here today to pray for the nation, for Mr. President, and for our state. There is a lot of insecurity, especially in the northern part of the country, and Mr. President is doing everything possible to address it.”

“If you like, I can also weave it into a slightly more dynamic story that highlights both the prayers and the political support for Tinubu in one flow. Do you want me to do that?

“From our own end, what we can do is to continue to pray for him, for Nigeria and for Ondo State.”

He added that Hon. Tunji-Ojo financed the programme and has continued to support GMT’s mobilisation across the state.

According to him, “He ensures that GMT remains strong in mobilising grassroots support for President Tinubu.

” It is our prayer that God will continue to give him wisdom and good health,” Yusuf-Ogunleye said.

The GMT state leader noted that Thursday’s prayer session was the first in a series of similar programmes scheduled to be held across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Ogunleye stated that another session would be held in Akure on Saturday and that non-indigenes, including Hausa and Ebira communities, would also hold a special prayer programme for the nation.

“We believe strongly in the efficacy of prayer. We are confident that God will intervene in the challenges facing the country and touch the hearts of those causing unrest.”

Also speaking, the Director of Women Affairs of GMT, Chief (Mrs.) Olamide Falana said the women gathered to pray for the success of President Tinubu, Ondo State Governor, and the Minister of Interior.

Falana added; “Akoko women have come together to pray for the security of Nigeria. We have prayed for President Tinubu to succeed and for his efforts to yield positive results.

“We have also prayed for our governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and for Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who is a benevolent leader. We believe that after these prayers, good things will happen in our land.”
