Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, has reassured that Nigeria’s security challenges would become history, saying the Federal Government has targeted to eliminate terrorism, terrorists very soon.
Idris on Thursday during the sensitisation campaign on the mid-term report of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in North-West under the Renewed Hope Agenda in Gusau, Zamfara state.
The Minister, represented by the Head of Federal Ministry of Information, Zamfara state, Alhaji Auwal Balarabe, disclosed that milestones have been put in place by the present administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As you all know, it is the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation to digest the Federal Government policies and sensitise the public on projects for the benefit of Nigerians,” he stated.
According to him, the sensitisation will give an avenue of opportunity for Nigerians to know the various developmental projects being carried out by the present administration in terms of security enhancement, infrastructure, agriculture, education, water supply, energy, boosting the economy and social intervention for a better Nigeria.
“I am glad to inform you that a milestone has been put in place whereby over 300,000 students benefited from the student loan scheme “NELFUND”, 900000 benefited from the presidential loan and grant scheme, over 440 ongoing road construction projects and payment of N70,000 minimum wage, others included agricultural support, infrastructural development and other Federal Government interventions,” he said.
He disclosed that the various interventions would mitigate the hardship among Nigerians, called on the people of Zamfara State to make use of the developmental projects to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“Let me, at this point, express the heartfelt sympathy of the Federal Government over the insurgency and banditry encountered in the zone.
“I assure you that the security challenges would become history as the Federal Government targets to eliminate terrorism and terrorists very soon,” he reassured.
He commended the effort and support of the Zamfara State Government towards the successful completion of the programme and all the participants who attended the occasion.
During the sensitisation campaign, highlights of major achievements of Tinubu’s first two years in office were presented by Abdul Rahman Adamu, Department of Political Science, Federal University, Gusau.
The milestone projects highlighted include ongoing projects in the North-West zone, comprised of road constructions, transportation, power, education, agriculture and the establishment of the North-West Development Commission.
