Insecurity: DSS arrests Miyetti Allah president in Nasarawa over vigilante group formation

Operatives of the Department of the State Services (DSS) have effected the immediate arrest of the President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Bodejo, over the creation of a vigilante group in Nasarawa State.

Informed Sources revealed to Tribune Online in Abuja that Alhaji Bodejo was arrested on Tuesday over his formation of unlawful Nomad’s Vigilante Group which the nation’s secret Police viewed as inimical to national security.

According to the source, the suspect was picked up by the Operatives of the service with the backup of the Military troops, at the Miyetti Allah’s Head Office, Tundun Maliya Cattle Market, Kilometre 22, Abuja-Keffi Expressway, Tundun-Wada, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The source revealed that the Military troops began the operation in the early hours of Tuesday by blocking the popular Abuja-Keffi Expressway at Kugbo axis which created an unprecedented traffic jam on the road to prevent his possible escape having been trailed to a location.

Consequently,  DSS operatives and some stern looking soldiers of the Nigerian Army, were said to have invaded the Miyetti Allah’s Head Office, at about 3:40 pm on Tuesday, effected his arrest at point of possible escape at the gate and whisked him away to a safe custody,

Though the Spokesperson of the Services, Dr Peter Afunnaya, could not be immediately reached for comments over the development, a Senior Officer familiar with the operation told our Correspondent in conference that the suspect “is being questioned on the recent activities of his group which are illegal and unknown to the laws of the land”

According to the source, “we have been on his trail but today our operatives with the back of the Military, we are able to effect his arrest, he is in our custody telling our operatives about the Nomad’s Vigilante Group, to us in the security community, the group is not known to the law of the land.

“We are keeping here for any purpose, the members of the public would be briefed as our investigation progresses.”

The Association is yet to issue official statement over the development

At  the information of the vigilante group, Alhaji Bodejo  disclosed that the volunteer vigilantes would strictly adhere to the country’s existing laws during their operations.

At the inauguration in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Alhaji Bodejo urged the volunteer vigilantes to work in collaboration with the Police, Army, and other security agencies to ensure a more comprehensive approach to security across the 13 local councils of the state

However, reacting through a short text message, Dr Afunnaya said “Bello Bodejo is not with the DSS.”
