In commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary,  popular social media platform, TikTok, has celebrated the role of Nigerian content creators in shaping global conversations through their creativity and innovation.

In a press release on Monday, TikTok praised the impact of Nigerian creators such as Funke Akindele, Yemi Alade, and Davido, among others who use the platform.

According to the statement, the presence of leading Nigerian creators has helped promote Nigerian culture to a global audience.

While celebrating Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, who has 5.1 million followers on the platform, TikTok commended her for using her content, including the famous ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ series, to showcase Nigerian storytelling.

TikTok also lauded award-winning Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, for using his platform with 6.7 million followers to push Nigerian music to international prominence.

Additionally, the platform praised Afropop sensation, Yemi Alade for using TikTok challenges to elevate her music to international heights.

TikTok further acknowledged creators such as Layi Wasabi, Enioluwa, Belove Olocha, and John Eke among others for promoting diversity and creativity through their various content on the platform.

The statement partly reads, “As we mark Nigeria’s Independence Day, let’s also celebrate the people who are redefining what it means to be proudly Nigerian in the digital age. Icons and emerging content creators are proving that Nigeria’s creativity knows no bounds, influencing global culture. Whether through music, fashion, film or food, Nigerian creators are telling the world, “We’re here and we’re proud!”
