The Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of two policemen attached to the majority leader of the Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon Kingsley Ikoro, representing Afikpo North-West state constituency
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, disclosed this in Owerri on Monday through the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, in a telephone conversation.
He said that there is no hiding place for the killers of the Policemen.
The CP disclosed that policemen have begun the manhunt for killers and were already combing the bushes around the scene of the crime with a plot to apprehend the suspects and make them face the full consequences for their unlawful action.
Some gunmen had on Sunday ambushed the two policemen and killed them at the Okigwe axis of the road in Okigwe in Imo State.
The policemen were stationed there after one of the vehicles ot the majority leader and his team were traveling with developed a mechanical fault.
While the other vehicles continued the journey, the two policemen stayed by, only to be ambushed and killed thereafter.
Okoye informed that the bodies of the cops who paid the supreme price have been evacuated to a morgue, while investigations have begun by the police.
