Authorities of the Ikirun College of Health Technology, Osun State, have stated that the institution is committed to providing quality education that empowers students to become skilled professionals and future leaders in the healthcare sector.

Speaking on its establishment, the Rector of the institution, Mr Oyewale Salaudeen, said that the college, founded in May 2024, was born out of a passion for education and a commitment to improving healthcare in Nigeria.

“Recognising the urgent need for skilled health professionals, we set out to train students who will make a real difference in their communities,” he said.

The Rector, who stated that the college operates with approval from the Osun State Ministry of Education and licensing from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), added that it aims to create opportunities for young people to gain quality healthcare education.

“Notably, through generous scholarship programmes such as the one championed by Hon. Adetunji Olusoji, who represents the Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe constituency in the 10th National Assembly, financial barriers are being broken to enable more students to achieve their academic aspirations. Earlier this year, Hon. Olusoji announced his plan to sponsor 300 students with 50% scholarships at the college.”

“Ikirun College of Health Technology offers a range of specialised programmes designed to tackle Nigeria’s healthcare challenges and train professionals poised to make a meaningful impact. These programmes include: Community Health Technology, Health Assistant, Health Information Technology, Public Health Assistant, and Public Health Technology.

“These courses equip students with practical skills in disease prevention, maternal and child health, environmental sanitation, medical diagnostics, and pharmaceutical services,” he said.

“By aligning our curriculum with national healthcare priorities, we are shaping professionals who will significantly contribute to the well-being of Nigerians.

“Our focus is not just on theory; we emphasise practical learning. Our students graduate with the competence to either immediately integrate into the workforce or pursue further studies in their respective fields.”

“While the institution actively collaborates with national regulatory bodies like the NBTE, efforts are underway to establish partnerships with hospitals and international institutions to enhance student training and research opportunities.

The college is also focused on strategic growth and infrastructure expansion. With full NBTE accreditation on the horizon, Mr Salaudeen highlighted that the school is making key improvements in its infrastructure, faculty recruitment, and curriculum development to ensure a world-class learning environment.

“We are introducing new programmes, expanding our facilities, and hiring highly qualified lecturers and administrative staff,” he revealed. “These steps will ensure our students receive the best possible education in a dynamic and innovative setting.

“We are dedicated to making a lasting impact in the healthcare sector. Our goal is to nurture professionals who will drive positive change and innovation in the industry,” Oyewale said.
