Engineer Idowu Lamidi, the esteemed Managing Director and CEO of Dollar Construction, has announced a heartfelt initiative to honour the memory of his late wife, Anastasia by establishing a scholarship programme for indigenes of Oyo township.
Anastasia Lamidi passed on in June, 2024 and was buried in Oyo after a burial service at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Owode, Oyo.
This benevolent endeavour of Lamidi aims to provide educational opportunities to deserving students, and mostly orphans, while reflecting an enduring commitment to community development and empowerment.
Lamidi’s philanthropic efforts have been widely recognised. In October 2021, he was honoured with the Outstanding Hero’s Award by Radio Nigeria, acknowledging his significant contributions to Nigeria’s real estate sector and his dedication to societal advancement.
In December 2023, Lamidi celebrated his birthday by organising a cash empowerment programme in Oyo town, benefiting over 500 indigenes. The event, held at the L.A. Grammar School, Isale Oyo, also marked the first anniversary of the Oyo Progressive Forum (OPF), an organization dedicated to the town’s development and the upliftment of its residents.
The forthcoming scholarship initiative is a testament to Lamidi’s enduring commitment to education and community development. By immortalizing his late wife’s legacy through this program, he continues to inspire and uplift the people of Oyo, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
