THE General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday, declared that Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and its residents are special before God, hence the city is always the first to host the “Go a Fishing” programme of the church in recent time.
Pastor Adeboye made the declaration during a special service held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
The service, which began by 6.00 a.m., saw RCCG’s Region 21 joint choir and several solo music ministers of the church ministering before Pastor Adeboye moved to the altar.
Adeboye, who arrived at the stadium at 7.40 a.m. and preached for about 16 minutes, made the altar call before leaving for the same programme in Oyo and Ogbomoso.
He was accompanied on the trip by one of the retired ministers of the church, Pastor G. Lawal; his two sons, Deolu and Leke.
Adeboye said: “The people in Ibadan have always been extremely special, anytime we ‘go a fishing’ and it’s your turn, you’re always the first whom we visit.
“The first anointing after the Holy Ghost congress always lands here. So, you’re specially blessed.
“During ‘go a fishing’, my duty is to pray for people in several places, it’s not time for long sermon. It’s just time to pray.”
Reading from John 3:16, while preaching on the theme, “Priceless Gift”, Adeboye said Jesus is the priceless and greatest gift God offered humanity” and urged the congregation to seek the precious gift.
Dignitaries who attended the event include the Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Michael Adeyemo and some members of the assembly, Bishop Victory Church Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Victor Adelakun, Reverend Solomon Adebara and his wife, Titilayo, Chairman, African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, Reverend (Mrs) Omotola Oyediran, Chairman, Christian Association of Oyo State (CAN) Pastor B.O.
