A prominent traditional ruler and the Owa Obokun of Ijesa Land, Owa Clement Haastrup, at the weekend promised to repair the Ibadan-Ilesa Express Road to reduce the loss of lives and property on the route.
One of the monarch’s media aides, Mr. Isaac Haastrup, quoted the royal father as maintaining that the road would be repaired before his coronation ceremony, slated for May 23, 2025.
He was, however, said to have made this known when members of the Ijesa Society in Lagos paid him a congratulatory visit in Ilesa.
According to him, he had already secured approval from the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out the repair work on the federal road at his own expense.

Oba Haastrup, while speaking on his economic plan for Ijesa Land, said necessary arrangements have been concluded for the training of 25 Ijesa youths in agribusiness by experts in Nasarawa State.
He thereafter assured the beneficiaries of land, funds, and the necessary support to excel in their areas of specialisation.
