Sir Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship Election, has said that he will remain in the YPP.

In a statement made days after the gubernatorial election, Mr. Chukwuma addressed the Sir Paul Chukwuma Political Family, announcing his decision to remain with the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

“I have taken the time to consider this thoroughly. I have listened to various arguments and efforts to persuade me otherwise, but after careful reflection, I want to affirm that I will stay with the YPP,” Paul Chukwuma declared. His decision came as a surprise to some members of his political family.

Sir Paul Chukwuma, a founding member and key financier of the APC in Anambra State, made headlines with his unexpected departure from the party just before the primaries.

In pursuit of his gubernatorial ambitions, he chose to align with the YPP months ahead of the governorship election, which surprised many. There was a widespread belief that he would return to the APC once the election concluded. However, during a meeting with his political associates, he confirmed his decision to remain with the YPP, effectively putting an end to speculation about his political future.

According to him, he is comfortable with the YPP, and he therefore is of the strong view that together with his team, he must remain steadfast in building a worthwhile political platform, rather than abandoning it.

During the meeting, Paul Chukwuma also reiterated his stance that he is carefully observing the guber election outcome for appropriate action.
