The Federal Lawmaker Representing Ohaozara Onicha and Ivo Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Climate Change and Security, Hon. Nkemkanma Kama has vowed to continue to prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in decision-making processes for his constituents.
Kama made the promise at Uburu, Ohaozara local Government Area, Ebonyi State, during a maiden briefing with his constituents on his achievements at the National Assembly as their representative within for the past 15 months.
According to Kama, he is emulating his State Governor Francis Nwifuru in the practice of inclusive representation and governance, preaching of unity for the development of his constituency.
He then assured his people that his commitment to their constituency remains unwavering as he is committed to working tirelessly in collaboration with other leaders to address all stated issues, both within their constituency and at the national level.

He then warned stakeholders of his constituents against demanding for gratification from indigent persons empowered as he has discovered that indigent persons are always approached “for settlement” by some of the stakeholders each time the indigent ones are empowered.
He however, promised to remain accessible, responsive and dedicated to serving the people in partnership with stakeholders from his Constituency.
“From the outset, we made clear and explicit commitment to hold annual Town Hall Meeting to enthrone Partcipatory Monitoring and Evaluation.
“Town Hall Meeting present an unfiltered platform to feel the people’s pulse. It is an important feature of democratic culture that nurtures sense of inclusion and banish feelings of alienation.
“This Town Hall meeting provides us an opportunity to come together as one people to discuss our challenges and explore solutions and I am excited to listen to your perspectives and work collaboratively to address our constituency’s pressing issues.
“Assessing The Journey So Far in the past months, our modest efforts have been geared towards addressing our concerns as a people; we advocated for your rights, initiated programs targeted at uniting our people and made sincere moves towards delivering on our campaign promises.
“Though little as they could be, given what we anticipate ahead, we have taken honest steps in the areas of legislation, healthcare, infrastructural development, poverty alleviation & empowerment, and education, among other
“In ensuring that we keep to our campaign promises, we’ve further endeared ourselves to several guiding principles”
“Before I go further, I would like to seize this opportunity to acknowledge the supports of our dear Governor, the Native Intelligent, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who has provided us a peaceful, inclusive and united atmosphere to operate.
“He has shown us, leading by example, that more can be achieved when we’re united in a peaceful society.
“I also acknowledge the dedication and resilience of our Stakeholders, Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, the Clergy, the women and the youths who have worked tirelessly to keep our Constituency peaceful and progressive
“We have under our payroll (N50,000 Monthly), 76 aides who protect our constituency offices in the 10 Communities of Ohanivo.
“This established that we have well furnished Offices in the 10 Communities as a way of keeping closer to the grassroot.
“As we appreciate God for the enablement to record these few efforts in the last 15 months, we reiterate our commitment to serving our constituency to achieve greater positive results in the years ahead.
“If given money to give someone, the person will start demanding for settlement.
“The person will tell that person “I am the one that nominated you for this empowerment, you must give me part of the money from this your money ”
”There are some women in this constituency that sell vegetable that is not more than N2,000. They feed their families from this, they pay their children school fees from this.
“If N10,000 is given to each of them to support their businesses to know if the vegetable business will grow, you will have guts to approach an old woman and collect half of the money.
“Let me tell you, anybody that collect money from indigent person, has invited indigent in his life.
“I gave out bags of rice for Christmas celebration last year, I ordered the distribution of the rice and food condiments. Some shared the rice while some refused to share it.
“The same thing happened in the N10,000 naira that was meant for the indigents. Some well to do persons, comfortable persons used vehicles and collected the monies.
“These are the things we need to fight against, these are the things we need to fight”, he said.
“We will continue to engage with stakeholders, advocate for policies and laws that benefit us all”, Kama said.
