Edo State Deputy Governor, Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, reaffirmed his position as the legitimate Deputy Governor of the state and emphasised that he continues to perform his official duties as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He made this statement on Thursday during a solidarity visit by the leadership and members of the three recognised transport unions in Edo State.

Omobayo expressed that he remains undeterred by the ongoing legal challenges surrounding the Office of the Deputy Governor and remains focused on supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in driving economic prosperity and transformation in Edo State.

He also expressed his gratitude to the transport unions—the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme—for their unwavering support and loyalty to Governor Obaseki’s administration since he took office.

During the visit, Chairman of RTEAN, Comrade Monday Orhue, and NURTW Chairman, Chief Odion Olaye, reiterated their total support for Governor Obaseki and his administration.

They also passed a vote of confidence on Omobayo, recognising him as the authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State.

Chief Olaye expressed optimism that the Obaseki-led administration would conclude its tenure successfully and leave a strong legacy.
