Fashion entrepreneur, Veekee James, has opened up about a difficult period in her life when false rumours almost drove her into depression.
The designer revealed that the controversy deeply shook her, leaving her fearful of how it might affect her personal brand.
“It almost put me in depression, you know? That was the first time I truly understood what people who say they are depressed feel,” she said.

According to her, she locked herself in her room for two days, crying and praying for divine intervention.
“I told God, ‘You know the truth. If these things they’re saying are lies, please help us get through this without it ruining my brand.’ And the way He brought me out was nothing short of a miracle,” Veekee recounted.
She explained that her faith and constant prayers gave her the strength to overcome the challenge, adding that she later found it easier to laugh off such negative reports.
On how she handles online trolls, Veekee disclosed that, unlike her brother’s advice to ignore comments, she prefers to confront them.
“Most times my brother would say, ‘Don’t read the comments.’ But I always go through them. Whenever I’m trending, I want to know why. I reflect, ask myself if I’ve done too much, and then pray for guidance,” she noted.
Speaking about her marriage, the entrepreneur revealed that she had sought God’s confirmation before choosing her husband, Femi Atere.
“When I met Femi, I knew he was the one. I wanted God to confirm it, and once He did, my ears were blocked till today and forever,” she said.
Veekee further shared her vision for raising her future children, stressing that she plans to make them visible role models rather than shielding them from the public.
“I don’t intend to hide my kids. I want them to be role models, to travel the world and showcase their talents,” she added.
Her husband, Atere, however, described himself as a private person, revealing that negative comments about their union do not bother him.
“I’m more of a behind-the-scenes person. My wife is outgoing because that’s who she is, but I’m the reserved one. Whatever people say online doesn’t get to me,” he concluded.
