Lere Olayinka, Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi for claiming he can defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
In a recent post via his X handle, Olayinka mocked Amaechi, calling him a “hungry man” who has been defeated by Wike multiple times, including in 2015 when Amaechi was governor, in 2019 when he was minister, and in 2023 after leaving office.
Olayinka questioned Amaechi’s confidence in defeating Tinubu, describing him as a jester.

“Hungry man Amaechi was a minister in 2019, when Wike defeated him.
“Hungry man Amaechi just left office as a minister in 2023, when Wike defeated him.
“The same hungry man Amaechi is boasting that he knows how to defeat Tinubu, a sitting president.
“I know Tinubu’s weaknesses, will defeat him if ADC gives me ticket – Amaechi.
“Me: Just the way he defeated Tinubu in the APC primary of 2022 nah. Alawada.com,” he wrote.
Amaechi had expressed his confidence in defeating Tinubu if given the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket, citing his knowledge of Tinubu’s strengths and weaknesses.
However, the APC has dismissed Amaechi’s claims, describing them as “laughable” and “delusional”.
The party emphasised Tinubu’s proven leadership and legacy of performance, stating that Amaechi’s influence has waned significantly since the last election cycle.
