As she marks her one-year anniversary as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency (KOSSIPA), Hajiya Oyiza Omade has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that no citizen of Kogi State goes to bed hungry.
She emphasised that tackling food insecurity remains one of the agency’s core priorities under her leadership.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Monday by Dami Adenuga, Head of Media, Communications & ICT at KOSSIPA, Hajiya Aishat reflected on the agency’s achievements over the past year, highlighting its large-scale food distribution programmes, economic empowerment initiatives, and strategic interventions aimed at reducing hunger across the state.
“No citizen of Kogi State should go to bed hungry. Over the past year, KOSSIPA has worked tirelessly to provide food relief to vulnerable families and empower communities with sustainable economic opportunities,” she stated.
Since assuming office, Hajiya Aishat has overseen multiple food security interventions, including the distribution of grains and staple food items to thousands of households. She also spearheaded the Ramadan charity drive, through which over 500 households received essential food supplies, ensuring that vulnerable families had access to nutritious meals during the fasting period.
“Food security is not just about distributing food; it’s about ensuring that families have the means to provide for themselves. This is why we are not only providing relief materials but also implementing long-term economic empowerment programmes,” she explained.
To further address economic hardship, KOSSIPA launched the Business Support Programme, offering financial grants to small-scale entrepreneurs. Additionally, the agency provided ₦50,000 each to single mothers and widows, enabling them to expand their businesses and achieve financial independence.
Recognising the need for targeted interventions, she also disclosed that KOSSIPA recently commenced a ward-to-ward sensitisation and data collection exercise in Okehi Local Government Area to ensure that social investment programmes are efficiently reaching those most in need.
“To make our efforts more effective, we have embraced a data-driven approach. Every intervention must be impactful, and this strategy allows us to deliver assistance with precision,” she noted.
Hajiya Aishat attributed the agency’s success over the past year to the unwavering support of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, whom she praised for prioritising social welfare in Kogi State.
“Governor Usman Ododo’s leadership has been instrumental in the progress we have made. His commitment to uplifting the people of Kogi through social investment programmes has empowered us to execute life-changing initiatives,” she said.
As she marks one year in office, Hajiya Aishat reaffirmed her commitment to expanding KOSSIPA’s impact and ensuring that no citizen of Kogi is left behind.
“This one-year milestone is just the beginning. We remain committed to deepening our interventions, strengthening our partnerships, and ensuring that no one in Kogi State suffers from hunger or economic hardship. Our work continues,” she concluded.
