Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed the life-changing impact of his 2017 hit song “Fall,” revealing that the record transformed his career and significantly changed his financial status.

The award-winning singer made the revelation during a blind ranking session of five of his songs in an interview with Capital XTRA, where he reflected on the songs that have defined his journey in the music industry.

While ranking his records, Davido admitted that if he had to choose his personal number one song, he would rather pick either “Dami Duro” or “Aye” because of their significance to him.

However, despite his personal preference, the singer said “Fall” remains the song that had the greatest impact on his life and career.

Speaking about the record, Davido said, “I’d rather put ‘Dami Duro’ or ‘Aye’ as number one, but ‘Fall’ changed my life.”

He went further to explain that the success of the song went beyond popularity, adding, “‘Fall’ changed my life financially. Everything.”

Davido recalled a memorable moment while he was in Miami when he realised just how far the song had travelled across the world.

According to him, “I was in Miami one time and someone sent me a video…” as the song continued to gain international attention, a moment he said made him appreciate its global reach and influence.

Released in 2017, “Fall” became one of Davido’s most successful records, enjoying massive airplay across Africa and earning remarkable recognition in international markets, particularly in the United States.

The song also made history by becoming one of the longest-charting Nigerian songs on major streaming platforms and helped introduce Afrobeats to an even wider global audience.

Although “Fall” proved to be his biggest commercial breakthrough, Davido maintained that “Dami Duro” and “Aye” still hold a special place in his heart because of what they represent in his musical journey.

His comments have since sparked conversations among fans, with many debating which of his songs deserves the title of his greatest hit.

For many listeners, “Fall” remains an iconic Afrobeats anthem that reshaped Davido’s career and cemented his status as one of Africa’s biggest music stars.
