How gunmen attacked my house over pro-Wike rally – Turnah

George Turnah, the convener of the NEW Associates, has recounted how gunmen attacked his residence and destroyed properties in connection with a pro-Wike rally held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Addressing supporters at the Church of God Mission camp in Igbogene, the venue for the pro-Wike rally, Turnah explained that while he was speaking, gunmen stormed his compound, firing shots indiscriminately. They chased away guests who had gathered for the reception and vandalised canopies and chairs.

He added that several people are currently hospitalised due to the attack and called on the Nigerian Police Force to investigate the incident and ensure the culprits face the full consequences of the law.

“I cried when I saw a woman on the ground bleeding. Many persons are in the hospital now as we speak. Opposition is not about destroying the effort of a government but helping a government succeed,” Turnah said.

He further stated, “We are bold to state today that we are solidly behind Nyesom Wike, who is working hard with the President, Senator Bola Tinubu. And if the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, refuses to declare his support for Tinubu, we will deliver a Wike PDP in Bayelsa come 2027.”
