Rabies has been found following the bite of varied wild animals including dogs, cats, foxes, wild rats, mangooes etc. As we know rabies is 100% fatal, To be on safer side it is better to get vaccinated after being bitten by any animal. First and most important step following the bite is to wash the bite site with soap and running water. Most of rabies causing organisms get washed away with soap and water. If there is visible bleeding second most important step become to get immunoglobulin injection at and around the site of bite.  Along with this, first dose (zero dose) of rabies vaccination is also administered and rest are given on 3rd,7th and 28th day of bite ( intra-dermal doses).
