Taraba governor, Darius Ishaku
Hope Afresh Foundation is a pet project founded by the wife of the governor of Taraba state Ana Ishaku which have been into philanthropic activities in the state for over two years.
While addressing the crowd that gathered at Women and Youths Center in Jalingo to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Hope Health Center And Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday (today) Governor Darius Ishaku said he was ready to do all it takes to include the health centre into the state annual budget starting from the forthcoming budgetary allocation.
Governor Ishaku while lamenting on the high level of drug abuse in the state by the youths also stated that the health centre has helped immensely by eliminating a number of youths that were engaged into drug abuse to a point of becoming addicted to the illicit substances.

He praises his wife for taking a challenge where the government was yet to arrive by establishing the health centre that has saved so many souls in the state.
“You will not know the level of destruction drug abuse can course to a family until when it happened to you, here in the state, for 7 days I was receiving cases of drug abuse ranging from one crisis to another, I have to table the case in our security meeting for the attention of our security, we thank you so much for cashing in where we are yet to come, please step it up.
” thank God the speaker of the house of assembly is well represented here, the director of budgetary allocation is also here, on my own, am going to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the Hope Health Center is included in the annual budgetary allocation of Taraba State which I will start with 100 Million naira.
“I urge you at the health centre to take record of all of your activities, thank God we are able to allocate a land for the health centre inside the premises of Specialist Hospital Jalingo, I want us to leave a remark on the ground. I will not want anybody who comes after me to misunderstand the concept and turn the Clinic into a dumping ground.
” We will hand over the Clinic to the specialist hospital when we are leaving government, that will also help the people of the state even when we are no more in government.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer CEO Hope Afresh Foundation Barr Ana Ishaku while speaking at the occasion said the one-year anniversary celebration was to take stock of the success and challenges of the Hope Health Center.
She revealed that 13 persons with cases of drug abuse and other related metal problems have passed out of the rehabilitation centre and reunited with their families happily while others were still in the rehabilitation process.
Ana calls on the people of the state and beyond to give the foundation both moral and financial support to succeed, high light at the occasion was testimonies from the victims of the drug abuse. messages from resource persons and encouragements from councillors.
