Honour your electoral promises, strengthen ties with Nigeria, Obi enjoins Starmer

Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the concluded 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, expressed hope that the incoming Prime Minister would honor his campaign promises.

In a statement on Friday, Obi, through his official handle, acknowledged the decision of the voters to elect Keir Starmer, describing it as a “historic victory,” and urged the Prime Minister-elect to fulfill the electorate’s expectations for effective governance.

“I sincerely congratulate Mr. Keir Starmer and the Labour Party UK on their landslide victory in Thursday’s election,” Obi remarked.

“May this victory usher in a new and improved chapter for all UK residents as you uphold your electoral pledges.

“I also hope that your administration will strengthen UK-Nigeria relations and assist in advancing our democracy, especially amidst these challenging times.

“Nigeria faces challenges such as insecurity, education, healthcare, and poverty, and could greatly benefit from UK support.

“Let’s collaborate to build a brighter future for all within the Commonwealth,” Obi concluded in his verified statement.
