Help my son or he’ll die, father of stabbed student begs Bauchi gov-elect

Sadiq Adamu on his sick bed at ATBUTH

Alhaji Adamu Sulieman, father of a 26-year-old Office Technology student of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, who was stabbed last Monday by a knife-wielding man during the victory celebration of Bauchi State Governor-elect, Senator Bala Mohammed, has appealed to the Governor-elect and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid and save his son from dying.

His son, Sadiq Adamu, received life-threatening injuries when he was stabbed as he joined hundreds of elated supporters of Mohammed who trooped out on the streets of Bauchi to celebrate his declaration as Governor-elect late last Monday night.

The alleged knife-wielding man, Mohammed Bako, 33, who was being chased for allegedly attempting to steal a motorcycle in the Yelwan Makaranta area of the state capital, stabbed Adamu in his stomach in front of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), at about 11:55 pm, that was after he had earlier stabbed and killed one Rabiu Hassan, 37, opposite the College of Agriculture in the same area.

While the suspect, Bako, a 200-level Mathematical Science student of ATBU is now in Police custody, his victim, Adamu is in critical condition at the Trauma section of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching hospital, Bauchi, where medical doctors are now battling to save his life.

His aged father, Suleiman Adamu, has launched a passionate appeal to the Governor-elect, Senator Mohammed and other kind-hearted Nigerians to assist him to foot the medical bills of his ailing son, Adamu.

The 68-year-old father who spoke to journalists while sitting by his son’s hospital bed, said: “We have bought some drugs that were prescribed for him. We have also carried out all the tests on the chest and abdomen the doctors asked us to do.

“But the abdominal test is expensive and it’s difficult for us to raise the money which is N40, 000. I have been trying to raise the money and the doctors have told us that we have to do it in good time.”

The concerned father also said that what happened to his son was a trial from God as “nobody expects these things but whenever they happen we have trust that God is with you as you try to overcome them.”

Speaking further, he said: “I am appealing to sympathetic people that God has blessed, especially our Governor-elect who my son came out to celebrate to help us out. Anyone that is touched and wants to helps us can come to the hospital to see the condition my son is in. Life is pretty difficult.”
