Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has stated that the helicopter seen dropping teargas during the governorship election of last Saturday in Kogi State was deployed for crimes prevention purpose.
The IGP said this while briefing journalists after a meeting of Service Chiefs with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

He said that the helicopter which was on patrol had to intervene to stop fights and prevent ballot box snatching.
Adamu stated that the police was heavily prepared for the elections in both Kogi and Bayelsa states because its security trend outcome assessment revealed that there would be cases of violence in both states.
