Many residents and motorists were trapped as floods caused by an early downpour overran the Command Area in Ipaja, Lagos.
The prolonged heavy rainfall, which started at 6 am on Tuesday, caught people off guard and later resulted in a flood that covered the bridge in the area.

Cars, motorcycles, and tricycles conveying residents going to their offices and business places were trapped in the stormwater. People had to disembark from them and walk through the flood.
According to a statement by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), “Residents of Command Area are urged to take alternative routes by avoiding Command and the nearby areas as floods have overrun the bridge.” “Already, NEMA, Fire Service, and Police are working to get trapped people out of the area presently,” it read.
