A group called Govindex Leadership Empowerment and Leadership Foundation has petitioned the Department of State Service (DSS) against former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Lagos Garages Manager Musliu Akinsanyo also known as MC Olumo, former Managing Director of New Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayo Onanuga, social media influencer Reno Omokri and Sam Omatseye, the Chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, for hate speech, conspiracy to incite hatred, and instigation of ethnic cleansing against the Igbo people.
The petition, submitted to the DSS National Headquarters on April 3, 2023, requested that the individuals be invited for questioning and investigation and subsequently prosecuted if found guilty according to the laws of Nigeria.

The group cited various incidents, including viral videos and publications on social media, in which the individuals named allegedly incited violence against the Igbo people and their supporters.
