A financial consultant, Mr Abba Adaudu, has asked state governments to urgently come up with palliatives to cushion the effects of the current food crisis in the country.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Mr Adaudu said the measure would also complement the Federal Government’s efforts to release foods from the National Strategic Reserves and silos.
The financial consultant, however, commended Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for the prompt commencement of the distribution of palliatives to indigents, which he said would bring food to the tables of ordinary citizens.
Mr Adaudu maintained that what Governor Ododo of Kogi State did would bring succour and reduce poverty by battling the poor people in the state.
He said he believes that if other state governments adopted the same measure, it would address the food shortage and end protests in some parts of the country.
Adauda emphasised the need for the government to give special attention to agriculture and support entrepreneurs engaged in large-scale farm cultivation.
According to him, the provision of financial support with adequate security will enable farmers and entrepreneurs to embark on large-scale farming.
Mr Adaudu stressed that releasing food from silos will only bring short-term solutions to the current food crisis.
