Hardship: Delta Polytechnic maintains status quo on school fees

The management of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has officially disclosed that the status quo of its current school fees for the 2024/2025 academic session will be maintained.

This, according to the Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, is a significant move aimed at fostering accessible education in view of the current economic hardship in the country.

This also reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting students amid the current challenging economic conditions.

The decision was reached during a recent meeting involving the Governing Council and key stakeholders of the institution.

The Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, in a statement, emphasized the institution’s dedication to promoting quality education while ensuring it remains affordable.

He said that in alignment with the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the polytechnic aimed to enhance the educational experience for all students, regardless of their state of origin.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri noted that the decision to keep service charges stable was not made lightly.

“We recognize the financial strains many families are facing due to the current economic climate.

“By choosing to maintain the existing fees, we hope to alleviate some of this burden and ensure that our students can focus on their education without the stress of increased financial obligations,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the development has been greeted with widespread approval from both students and parents, who see it as a testament to the institution’s understanding of their needs and the provision of a conducive learning environment where students can dedicate themselves fully to their academic pursuits.

The polytechnic management also took the opportunity to encourage students to return to campus with a renewed focus on their studies.

“We urge all students to embrace this opportunity to concentrate on their education, embody discipline, and actively participate in the transformative initiatives of the MORE Agenda.

Together, we can take Delta State to greater heights,” Professor Ufuophu-Biri remarked.
