Sokoto State Government has won a Saudi Award of Excellence for conducting successful Hajj operations.

The state government also clinched the prestigious and most coveted award sequel to the proper arrangements put in place to ensure the welfare of the State’s pilgrims during the just-concluded 2024 Hajj exercise.

This came to light when the Chairman,  Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Aliyu Musa, presented the invaluable award to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu at the Government House Sokoto on Monday.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Gov. Aliyu commended the PWA officials for the unwavering commitment they had shown, which led to the myriad of successes recorded in the last Hajj exercise.

He said, “I want to thank you for the unshakeable commitment and glaring hard work you have displayed in diligently organising the last Hajj exercise.

‘” The arrangements you have made in ensuring the welfare of our pilgrims were indeed superb,  extremely worthy of commendation.

‘”Feeding and accommodation of our pilgrims were indeed marvelous and unmatched, so keep up the good work,” Aliyu maintained.

He assured the agency of his administration’s continued support to ensure more success in the subsequent Hajj exercises.

Earlier, Musa commended Gov. Aliyu for giving the PWA all the needed support and assistance, which he profoundly attributed to the successes recorded by the agency in the last Hajj exercise.

“I want to assure Your Excellency of our resolve at the PWA to continue to put in our best in the discharge of our arduous duties,” he added.

The Chairman also called for the continued support of the state government to the PWA to achieve its mandates of ensuring a hitch-free Hajj exercise.

Alhaji Aliyu also thanked the board members and the management staff of the agency for their uncommon dedication and commitment to work and called on them to sustain the happy and laudable tempo.
