The Secretary, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Plateau State Chapter, Pharmacist Kim Bot, has been kidnapped by gunmen in the Jos North local government area of the state.

The Nigerian Tribune learned that the pharmacist was driving home at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday when the gunmen, who had mounted a roadblock in the Laminga area of the council, flagged him down.

It was gathered that immediately after he stopped, the gunmen forced him out of his vehicle at gunpoint and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

A member of the association who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident and further disclosed that the kidnappers have yet to get in touch with the association and family of the victim.

A cross-section of residents of Lamingo disclosed that the road leading to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) has turned into a den of kidnappers and other undesirable elements.

A resident of the area, Ibrahim Dalyop, who has a shop within the vicinity, said the pharmacist has a pharmaceutical shop in the area and was kidnapped while going home after closing his shop.

Dalyop said, “The rate of kidnapping in this area is alarming; there is no week without a report of kidnapping or robbery. We are appealing to the government and security agencies to come to our aid.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the incident, said the command has swung into action to arrest those behind the kidnapped and rescue the pharmacist.
