Gunmen abducts Labour Party National Chairman’s mum in Ilorin

A 71- year old mother of the national chairman of Labour Party, Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Sunday night.

Tribune Online gathered that Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho, who is the mother of Dr Mike Omotosho, a former governorship candidate of the party in the last governorship election in Kwara State, was allegedly kidnapped by four people at her Family house, number, 23, Lobalade street, Tanke, Ilorin, about 7:30pm.

According to the gateman, four men armed with dangerous weapons stormed the family house at Tanke Sunday night and abducted Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho to an unknown destination.

Speaking with our correspondent in a telephone chat, Dr Mike Omotosho confirmed the abduction of his mother by four gunmen.

Dr Mike Omotosho, who said that the Police headquarters in Abuja and in Kwara State had been contacted on the abduction of his mother, appealed to members of the public with useful information about the kidnappers to contact the law enforcement agencies.

Also speaking with our correspondent, Doctor Mike Omotosho ‘s sister, Titilayo Omotosho, said “the gateman who was later released after the abduction (who is in custody now) alleged that four armed men entered the house and told Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho  to wear clothes and follow them and that if she makes a sound they will shoot her. The gateman said they asked of Titi but I was at one meeting as at that time. I got home…searched and searched and couldn’t find my mom”.

Confirming the abduction, the spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, said the woman was abducted and the State Police command had started the process of getting her liberated.

DSP Okasanmi noted that the Police had swung to action, pointing out that investigation had commenced and advised people of the state not to panic as there was no cause for apprehension.

The Police Public Relations Officer urged the people of the state to go about their lawful businesses.
