Niger State Government has secured $10mllion World Bank-assisted fund to arrest gully erosion in some parts of Mokwa local government area.
Niger Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago disclosed during his Statewide projects monitoring tour.
The Governor who conducted rounds in the affected areas such as Kpege, Efu Abebe, Eti Sheshi all in Mokwa local government area, observed that the situation has posed a serious threat to the affected communities.
He said competent contractors, with track records, have been identified to handle the project which will commence very soon.
The Governor called on the people of the affected communities to cooperate and support the contractors.
He reassured them that his administration was poised to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
Some residents of Mokwa LGA appreciated the Governor for the intervention, saying, the project will relieve them from hardship and uncertainties of so many years.”
